2008 Mississippi HeARTS Against AIDS Benefit

Jackson, MS - The 16th annual Mississippi HeARTS Against AIDS benefit will be held Saturday, February 9th at Hal & Mal’s starting at 6pm. Hal & Mal’s is located at 200 South Commerce street in downtown Jackson. The benefit is a live and silent art auction.

Many well-known artists faithfully donate works for the auction including Lea Barton, Anthony DiFatta, William Dunlap, Lucy Mazzaferro, and H.C. Porter. This year more than 300 donations have been made. The art includes paintings, photography, sculpture, jewelry, and pottery in a broad range of styles and prices. Dozens of local restaurants cater the event and there will be live music before and during the auctions.

This year Pulitzer Prize nominated artist Marshall Ramsey, a daily cartoonist for The Clarion-Ledger, contributed the featured art for the benefit.

Tickets will be available the night of the event at the door. Admission is $30 or $15 for students with a valid school ID.

Mississippi HeARTS Against AIDS is a non-profit, 100% volunteer organization. The February benefit is the largest fundraiser in the state for HIV & AIDS related issues. Since 1993 HeARTS has raised more than $750,000 for these causes.
